Well Margaret was back up at Mayo this past week for her latest round of chemo. Amy (still on her Christmas break) took her up for her trip and stayed in the old Transplant House. The trip was eventful. Her checkup went very well and she had chemo on Friday. Apparently it took a long time for the chemo since they were busy. The plan was a to get the 'build your blood counts' shot Saturday morning and then come home. Well the best laid plans...... Friday night and Saturday was spent in the bathroom, to be polite it was coming out both ends and don't we all know how much fun that can be. She got her shot and an anti-nausea IV on Saturday and Margaret and Amy they stayed the night in Rochester. Sunday the were able to get back home and she has been feeling better which is perfect since she should be completely over it in a couple of days when she bottoms out from the chemo, perfect timing! They are not sure if the Friday/Saturday incident was chemo related of from something else, we may never know.
Riley (our dog) is doing better, he is now eating more days than than he is not. His platelet count continues to go up (no where near normal yet) and his liver values, while still very high, are coming down. He is currently only on 7 drugs ('only' Gracie, boy I am old), that is down from what it used to be. He currently gets 14 pills a day and he is getting tired of getting the drugs shoved down his throat and to tell you the truth, it is getting old shoving them down him also so no one is pleased. BUT it is keeping him alive and some of his meds have been eliminated and others are being reduced, a good sign. The vet says she is still has some big concerns but things are getting better.
That is the update at this point. Margaret has just 2 more rounds of chemo and then we (and by we, I mean her) are done with it and go back to the amyloid and heart transplant checkups.
